5 OUTDOOR RECREATION ACTIVITIES 1. Cincinnati Nature Center
Just minutes away from the downtown urban core, Cincinnati Nature Center offers tranquility and solace among more than 1,600 acres of forest, fields, streams and ponds. With twenty miles of award-winning trails on two picturesque properties, the Nature Center provides spectacular experiences for people of all ages during all seasons. From enchanting spring wildflowers to dazzling colors of autumn, the ever-changing beauty of nature attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, and it is waiting for you.
2. Valley View Foundation
The Valley View Foundation offers more than five miles of trails that are perfect for hiking, walking and jogging in all seasons. Valley View has transformed from a grassroots organization started in a living room into the responsible stewards of 190 acres of beautiful open land along the East Fork River with a rich history dating back 12, 000 years. This land includes rivers, streams, wooded hillsides, prairie and isolated wetlands on a compact, easily-walkable site in the heart of Milford, OH, just east of Cincinnati. Its mission is conserving land, preserving history and sharing with the community and visitors, alike.
3. East Fork State Park
One of Ohio’s largest state parks, 4,870-acre East Fork offers a great diversity of recreational opportunities and natural history including biking, boating, fishing, swimming and hiking trails. The park’s terrain includes both rugged hills and open meadows, setting the stage for a wonderful getaway. East Fork is also home to many visitor attended events including the prestigious USRowing Club National Rowing Championships, Midwest Junior Championships, The Twisted Witch Horse Endurance Race and Feral Hog 50K.

4. Little Miami Bike Trail
The Little Miami Bike Trail, also referred to as the Loveland Bike Trail, offers 70 miles of sparkling sunshine and cool shade paved flat trails along the Little Miami River. This trail offers as a connector to well over 100 more miles of additional trails. Free parking, picnic tables, restrooms, easy access, coffee and ice cream shops, restaurants and entertainment have made the Little Miami Bike Trail the perfect stage for your biking excursion.
5. Loveland Canoe and Kayak
At the Loveland Canoe and Kayak, you will enjoy the Little Miami River as you paddle through some of the most beautiful, natural surroundings in the Cincinnati region. With its designation as a state and national scenic river, this section of the Little Miami looks much like it did 200 years ago with rolling, majestic banks, pristine waters and natural vegetation. Loveland Canoe and Kayak strives to create a family friendly environment as you float down the Little Miami in either a canoe, kayak or raft. This is a fun and affordable activity for all ages, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Step back in time to experience some unique historical sites in Clermont County.
Take a stroll through the U.S Grant birthplace where you will learn about the Civil War General and 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant, who was born on April 27, 1822 in a one room frame cottage house. Here you will learn about his upbringing and the path to his Presidency. Or fly through the Tri-State Warbird Museum, which has welcomed millions of visitors since their opening in 2003. This museum is committed to preserving the aircraft of World War II, educating visitors on America’s role in the war and honoring the veterans who fought and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Sit in a historical aircraft and learn the life of a pilot or explore the bomber hangar and learn the significant role that aircrafts have played in American history.
As you continue your journey through the rich history of Clermont County; how about a cup of tea as you enjoy the Promont. A Victorian mansion circa 1865 and the home of John M. Pattison, Ohio’s 43rd Governor. This museum features period furnishings, a reference library, changing exhibits, a gift shop and an educational tour of the home’s three levels, including the Promont tower. Did you know? The underground railroad was not a railroad in the typical track and train sense. In fact, The Underground Railroad was a network of people, secret routes and safe houses established in the United States during the early to mid-19th century, and used by enslaved African Americans to escape into free states and Canada. Citizens of Clermont County, Ohio were a major contributor to the Underground Railroad movement and were leaders in the efforts towards freedom and equality for all Americans. Walk alongside the trail as you learn about movement leaders and stories of those that walked that same path.

There are plenty of activities in Clermont County to keep you and your family entertained. Here are some that will create memories with your family, but won’t break the bank. 1. Geocaching
A modern-day scavenger hunt has turned into a worldwide budget friendly activity. You can explore thousands of geocaches within Clermont County and the greater Cincinnati region. Some caches are strategically placed near important historical monuments for a brief history lesson and others are scattered throughout our great outdoor hiking trails. For all you geocaching trail lovers, here you will have the opportunity to complete the Underground Freedom Geotrail, the Greater Cincinnati GeoTour and the Earthcache GeoTour.

2. Chilo Lock 34 Visitor Center and Museum
This park is located along the Ohio River and offers three floors of exhibits and interactive displays focusing on the history of the Ohio River and locks and dams. A 1.5 acre wetland is located in the park, providing great wildlife watching opportunities and the Crooked Run Nature Preserve is located adjacent to the park providing excellent hiking trails.

3. Cardboard Boat Museum
America’s Cardboard Boat Racing capital, New Richmond, OH. You will enjoy the colorful and quirky Cardboard Boat Museum, which showcases dozens of unique cardboard boats. The museum offers classes in building cardboard boats and special tours. They are also the host of the popular Cardboard Boat Regatta, which takes place every August during the River Days Festival.
4. Frisbee Golf
Let’s add some good family-friendly competition to your trip with a nice round of frisbee golf. This sport shares the same principal as golf, the object of completing each hole in the fewest strokes, or in this case, the fewest throws with a frisbee. The game is growing in popularity and we have the courses for your family to enjoy, including Amelia DGC, Kathryn Stagge-Marr Park and the Miami Township Community Park.

Learning a little history is always an exciting journey and visiting the Loveland Castle & Museum gives you the opportunity to jump back in time. The historical Loveland Castle & Museum Chateau Laroche was built by one man as an expression and reminder of the simple strength and rugged grandeur of the mighty men who lived when Knighthood was in flower. Here you will learn the history of Sir Harry Delos Andres, see swords and weapons from years ago and take in the beautiful architecture that this castle offers.
6. Take a Tour of Jungle Jim’s
Calling all foodies! Experience Jungle Jim’s 6-acre food lover’s paradise. Take a tour of the store and enjoy food samples from all around the world. Explore the miles of aisles at Jungle Jim’s while knowledgeable tour guides lead you on a fun-filled food safari. Chilo Lock 34 Visitor Center and Museum
Cincinnati Northeast Located on the Ohio River in a historic park, the museum offers three floors of exhibits and interactive displays focusing on the history of the Ohio River and locks and dams. A 1.5 acre wetland is located in the park, providing great wildlife watching opportunities. Two picnic shelters are in the park and a steamboat themed playground.
